Middle School

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, and in keeping with the social distancing mandate, a limited number of Middle School volunteers are needed in 2021. Volunteer positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Who can volunteer? Middle School students entering Grades 6-8 in autumn with a valid EPL card.

Only one volunteer opportunity is allowed per person.

Advisory Committee Volunteer Positions (Summer)

Make your voice heard by suggesting new Library programs, events, and activities. Meetings are virtual.

Program Assistant Volunteer Positions (Summer)

Interact with children at an outdoor program. Events are in person.

Choose ONE event:

Friday, June 11: Advisory Committee @ 5-6 p.m.

Saturday, June 12: Drive-Thru “Zoo” @ 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Friday, July 9: Story Walk Live @ 9-11:30 a.m.

Friday, July 23: Advisory Committee @ 5-6 p.m.

Friday, August 13: Pets at Butterfield Park @ 1-3:30 p.m.

Middle School General Assistant (School Year)

Currently not accepting Middle School General Assistant volunteers

General Assistants help the librarians with chores such as making name tags for storytimes, cleaning books, stapling, and pulling books from the shelves for displays. General Assistants work one hour a week, for seven weeks.

Outreach Volunteer

Volunteers are needed to deliver materials to patrons who cannot get to the Library. You must be comfortable driving and enjoy working with people. You must also be able to work efficiently and productively with minimal supervision and follow detailed instructions with accuracy. No more than three hours per week, year round. Please fill out an application and return to the Inclusive Services Coordinator in person at the 2nd Floor Information Desk or mail to 125 S. Prospect Ave., Elmhurst, IL 60126.
