Library Assistant (Part-Time)

The Elmhurst Public Library is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and team-oriented Library Assistant to join our Kids’ Library. This staff member’s primary duties will include working closely with our Early Childhood Services Librarian on preschool outreach initiatives, providing patrons with reference and readers’ advisory assistance at the Kids’ service desk, assisting patrons in selecting and using technology resources, planning, and presenting educational and recreational programming for children aged birth through 8th grade, and will include managing some areas of the collection. In addition to departmental responsibilities, this staff member will have the chance to participate in professional development opportunities. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, forward-thinking, efficient, organized, and able to provide excellent customer service. See the job description for more information.

SALARY: $17.07 per hour

HOURS: Monday, 3-9 pm; Tuesday, 9 am-3 pm; Thursday, 9 am – 1 pm; Weekend shift (Saturday & Sunday) on a 5 weeks rotation.

Business Engagement Coordinator (Full-Time)

The Adult Services team at Elmhurst Public Library seeks a resourceful, outgoing professional to join our creative, dynamic department as the Business Engagement Coordinator.  The right candidate will be committed to delivering meaningful programming and services to patrons, especially business owners and consumers, and eager to reach out into the community to build relationships that support local businesses and the Library.  This teammate is also responsible for providing exemplary reference and advisory services, managing collections, facilitating access to materials and services, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure that the Library is a welcoming place for everyone.  See the job description for more information.

SALARY: $54,000 – $56,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week including regular nights and weekends on rotation.

BENEFITS: Enrollment in IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund), excellent medical insurance (including coverage options for spouse or family), 8 weeks of paid parental leave, 4 personal days, 12 sick days, 7 paid holidays,  and 4 weeks of vacation per year. Plus optional 457 deferred retirement plan.
