The Elmhurst Public Library is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and team-oriented Library Assistant to join our Kids’ Library. This staff member’s primary duties will include working closely with our Early Childhood Services Librarian on preschool outreach initiatives, providing patrons with reference and readers’ advisory assistance at the Kids’ service desk, assisting patrons in selecting and using technology resources, planning and presenting educational and recreational programming for children aged birth through 8th grade, and may include managing some areas of the collection. In addition to departmental responsibilities, this staff member will have the chance to participate in professional development opportunities. Are you detail-oriented and able to think creatively to solve problems? The Elmhurst Public Library is looking for someone to physically process library materials for circulation and shelving. Emphasis will be on AV materials – including but not limited to CDs, audiobooks, games, kits, toys, and puzzles. Some book processing may also be expected. Duties include some or all of the following: repackaging AV to fit library needs, applying property markings and labels, assigning location codes and updating computer entries, repairing damaged materials, attaching protective book covers, and laminating paperbacks.
