Why My Pet is a Fantastic Beast Writing Contest

Is your pet a fantastic beast? Tell us why, and you could be a winner!

Write a short creative essay about “Why My Pet is a Fantastic Beast” as part of the Kiwanis and Spring Road Association’s 2019 Pet Parade.

Requirements:

Entries must be the original work of the student. Parents may transcribe a young child’s entry. Students are limited to one essay. Entries must be 1,000 words (2 pages) or less. Illustrations are not required and will not be judged.

How to Enter:

This contest is open to all Elmhurst students in grades K – 8. Entries must be received by Saturday, May 11 at 5 p.m. to qualify. Enter using the online form below or drop off entries at the Kids’ Library Help Desk. All entries become the property of the Elmhurst Public Library and may be posted on the Library’s website.

Prizes:

One winner will be awarded in each of three age categories:
Grades K-2
Grades 3-5
Grades 6-8

Winners will receive a $10 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble as well as prize for their pet. Winners will also be recognized at the Elmhurst Pet Parade on May 18.

Winners will be notified by May 15.
