“My America” Storytelling Event

Seeking: Storytellers for Nov. 16, 2018

Elmhurst Public Library is looking for individuals who have a story they would like to share about their experience as an American or in America.

Some examples might be:

  • What does the American Dream mean to you?
  • Where were you on a day in history?
  • What are your experiences traveling abroad as an American?
  • How did your work, community, school, or church make you the person you are today?

Participants are required to:

  • Attend two practice sessions:
    Tuesday, Oct. 30 • 6:30-8:30 p.m.
    Tuesday, Nov. 6 • 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Attend the event:
    Friday, Nov. 16 • 6:30-8:30 p.m.

This program is based on The Moth storytelling events. If you are not familiar with the radio program, listen here.

Storytelling coach Scott Whitehair, creator of Story Lab Chicago, has been seen/heard on NPR, PBS, WGN Radio, FOX-TV, Sirius XM, and The Risk Podcast. He is a two-time Moth Slam winner and runner up at The 2012 Windy City All-City Story Slam Championship. In 2017, he made his debut with Exchange Place at The National Storytelling Festival.
