Elmhurst Preschool Teachers
Teacher Borrowing Privileges
Not-for-profit preschool and day care centers that are not home-based and are within the city limits of Elmhurst are entitled to Elmhurst Public Library Preschool Teacher privileges.
Privileges include:
- Ability to place requests for classroom collections gathered by library staff.
- Borrow materials for longer without incurring overdue fines. Materials have a 6-week loan period with an automatic 3-week renewal.
- Elmhurst teachers may take items from the book sale room, free of charge. You must have your teacher’s ID from an Elmhurst school with you.
If you are a Teacher and have questions about signing up for privileges, contact Katie Stringwell in the Kids’ Department.
You need to bring your school ID to pick up materials in person.
Programs and Visits
We’ve gone digital! In place of an in-person visit, you can request a live program via Zoom for your classroom or school. You may request one live program per semester. Email the Early Childhood Services Librarian Katie Stringwell to arrange a time and discuss needs. Requests must be submitted at least four weeks in advance. At this time, we are not scheduling class visits to the Library.
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
Ensure your child is school-ready by sharing the gift of reading. Milestones are celebrated along the way.
Families can register online or at the Library to begin their reading journey. More information is available online.
Request Materials
Teachers should submit their requests for materials to teacherrequests@elmlib.org
We are happy to pull materials that are age-appropriate for your classroom and have them ready for you to pick up and check out for six weeks.
Please allow two (2) business days for material requests.
