Dedicating a book or other materials at the Elmhurst Public Library is a unique way to commemorate special events or honor the memory of loved ones.
For each gift of $25 or more, the Library selects a recently acquired item for dedication from one of the subject areas you suggest.
A nameplate (see examples) announcing your gift is inserted in the dedicated item. A list of dedications is displayed in the Lobby’s south display case the month following the dedication.
You also will receive an acknowledgment letter from the Library about your dedication. A letter announcing your dedication will be sent to the person you honored or the family of the person you remembered, per your request.
To complete the Commemorative Gifts Form you need:
• the name of the person you wish to honor or remember exactly as you would like it to appear on the nameplate;
• the name and address of the person who should receive an announcement of your gift;
• the type of material to be dedicated
• the subject area(s) from which the staff should select the item; and
• your monetary donation.
Items purchased are subject to the same selection criteria as other items in the collection. Donors will not be notified of withdrawals or replacements of gift items.
