Makerspace: Creative Assistant (Part Time)

The Elmhurst Public Library seeks to be the center of the community by providing opportunities for residents to enrich their lives. With the expected spring completion of a 3,500 sq. ft. makerspace in the building’s basement, two Creative Associates will work in the “Makery” with patrons of all ages to use the 3D printers, laser cutter, embroidery machine, sewing machines, card making supplies, and more. Creative Assistants will help provide access to the space and equipment, fostering a place where our patrons can transform their ideas into reality. As we acknowledge that no one person can know everything, Library makerspace staff members will work collaboratively to complement each other’s talents and interests. Applicants for this position should demonstrate an interest in creative technology and the ability to offer fantastic customer service.

HOURS: Both positions 9 hours per week, consisting of 2 weekly shifts. These are not a seasonal positions.

Position 1: Every Friday 5-9p, Saturday 1-5p,

Position 2: Every Saturday 9-1p, Sunday 1-5p

Technology Specialist (Part Time)

Elmhurst Public Library enriches life in Elmhurst by providing opportunities to connect, create, and explore. The Adult Services Department is seeking an individual to provide a mixture of public service and clerical support service.  Through one-on-one public service interactions and group instruction, this staff member will help patrons find information, locate Library materials, access Library services and use Library and personal technology.  Hours off the desk will be spent maintaining Library equipment, shelving items, creating displays and performing various other duties.  Applicants for this position should show a demonstrated interest in technology, expertise with the use of creative software, and the ability to offer fantastic customer service.

HOURS:  15 hours per week, consisting of weekday and evening shifts and Saturdays and Sundays on rotation.  This is not a seasonal position.
